Everything Everywhere All At Once tells the story of Evelyn Wang, a middle-aged Chinese-American woman who is running a failing laundromat with her husband Waymond, being audited by the IRS, and failing at connecting with and fully accepting her daughter Joy (Stephanie Hsu). While on her way to be audited, her husband undergoes a spontaneous shift in personality and begins to give her odd instructions, telling her that the fate of the multiverse is at stake and she might be the only one who can save it. What follows is an increasingly absurd, charming, and hilarious plot surrounding a depressed omnicidal multiversal entity named Jobu Tupaki, an everything bagel—and that’s meant literally—and Evelyn’s own struggle to find meaning in her unexciting life.
