Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with Intel and Qualcomm chipsets

Microsoft has introduced the latest additions to its Surface series of laptops in a soft launch, and the gadgets appear to be worth the wait.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is one among them. The new 2-in-1 is an improvement on its predecessor, the Surface Pro 8, and it combines several intriguing features.

These improvements include both hardware and software – buyers may pick between Intel’s 12th Gen Core processors or a Microsoft SQ3 Arm-powered processor with 5G capability, as well as the device’s upgraded camera and audio functions and extended battery life.

The Surface Pro 9 keeps the Surface Pro 8’s 13-inch display, but with a 2880 x 1920 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Its storage options have been expanded, and the Surface Pro 9 now offers 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB of RAM with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD.

The Intel 12th Gen Core processors and the SQ3 Arm-powered CPU are both significant improvements to the Surface Pro 9 and will be available at varying prices. If you want built-in 5G support (which has been rolled out in India and will be available on iPhones in India in December),

you’ll have to go to Arm to acquire the Surface Pro 9 with SQ3. According to Microsoft, the SQ3 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and provides “excellent performance and Secured-core capabilities,” which Intel’s processors also provide.

If you acquire the Surface Pro 9 with Intel 12th Gen Core processors, you may select between the Intel Core i5-1235U and Intel Core i7-1255U, depending on price, and both have a total of 10 cores (two P-cores and eight E-cores) and 12 threads, up from four cores and eight threads in the Surface Pro 8.

In any case, the processor is based on the Intel Evo platform with Thunderbolt 4 and provides tremendous power and performance.

The Surface Pro 9 also has Dolby Vision IQ support (only on the Intel model) and, on the SQ3 variant, a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of more than 15 trillion computations per second.

The Surface Pro 9’s camera and microphone hardware have remained mostly intact, but with a more capable NPU than ever before, the Surface Pro now includes a new suite of features called as Windows Studio Effects.

The suite includes a new Speech Focus function (which does exactly what the name implies – it filters out background noise to focus on your voice), as well as improved camera and audio features like automatic framing and portrait background blur. It also supports Windows Hello facial authentication, and it has two USB Type-C ports (USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4).
