Security is tight as Buhari unveils the 2023 budget.
As President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) presents the 2023 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly today, security is tight in and around the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
At 10:07 am, the President arrived in the House of Representatives’ temporary chamber, where the event was taking place.
At a ceremony that is set to begin at 10 am, Buhari will present the N19.76 trillion federal government budget to the legislature.
Military, paramilitary, and safety personnel are heavily concentrated on the property.
The Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Department of State Services, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Federal Fire Service, and sergeants-at-arms were sent for the special mission.
The security personnel are stationed at strategic areas within and outside the structure, and cars and people entering the premises are subject to tougher security checks.
Certain staff employees, key service providers, and journalists were provided access tags to the premises.
