Arteta: Arsenal lacked consistency and dominance despite win
Despite cruising to a 3-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt to move to the top of their Europa League group, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta thought that his players “lacked consistency and domination” despite the victory.
The goals scored by Eddie Nketiah, Rob Holding, and Fabio Vieira in the first half of the game helped Arsenal break their winless streak of three consecutive home games in European competition. Fabio Vieira put the finishing touch late in the game.
After a fantastic start that has seen them win nine out of their first 10 games across all competitions, the Gunners are currently two points ahead of PSV in second place at the top of Group A. They also lead the Premier League. This is just the third time in the history of the club that they have accomplished this feat.
Arteta stated to BT Sport that he had conflicting emotions over his team’s performance against Bodo. He said, “I’m really thrilled with the win, six points and a clean sheet.

“However, we were unable to establish a connection between the players, and we struggled to maintain consistency and dominance throughout the game.
“There were eight changes, and a lot of players that haven’t played a lot of minutes, and you could sense that, the timing was off,” said the coach after the game.
“In the final part of the field, we posed a significant threat, and the goals that we scored were quality finishes.”
The second half got out to a strong start for Bodo, so Arteta responded by making a lot of substitutes. He brought in players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, the latter of whom produced a wonderful assist for Vieira.
Arteta provided an explanation as to why the changes had to be made, stating that “a few players, you could see they had a different intensity, not enough exposure in terms of minutes, so we had to make changes.” This was due to the fact that some of the starters were not as fit as they could have been.
