Don’t abandon your marriage for peanuts abroad – Cleric
Anglican priest Ekenedilichukwu Nwafor has urged women to stay put in their communities rather than go for the promise of better economic opportunities in other countries.
The Rev. Nwafor, Vicar of The Pentecost Church in Awka, Anglican Communion, issued the appeal during a sermon titled “Walking the Walk” on Sunday in Awka.
He said that nowadays, many women in high-paying professions like medical and nursing may leave their spouses without their knowledge or consent in order to seek economic opportunity in Canada and other Western countries.
Nwafor warned that activities like these might cause marital discord, disrupt family life, and put children at risk.
The vicar said that such behavior has caused the affected couples to engage in a life of adultery and their offspring to become lesbians, homosexuals, and incestuous.
Nwafor emphasized the need of putting one’s faith into practice wherever one goes and whatever one’s circumstances may be.
According to him, God instituted marriage so that people might form moral communities in which parents could work together to raise children who would grow up to be productive, law-abiding members of society.
While the current economic climate is indeed challenging, it should not be used as an excuse to put one’s marital commitments on the back burner in favor of monetary gain.
We must give the Holy Spirit complete control of our life as Christians, safe in the knowledge that he watches over his flock.
He urged that “women are the builders of houses, therefore they should not create a vacuum in homes due to tiny rattles in their money, family, and offices.”
He urged parents to let the Bible be their guide in raising their children the right way.
Put your words into action as a parent. Ultimately, he summed it up by saying, “God instructed in 1st Peter 5 verses 1 to 5, that as a parent you are urged to live by example to your children in all respects.
According to Ephesians 6:1–3, Nwafor emphasized the importance of children listening to and obeying their parents.
By “walking the talk” in all situations, “all these promises of God will rest upon us,” he stated.
