Kylian Mbappe: France forward feels ‘betrayed’ by PSG and wants to leave – Julien Laurens
Julien Laurens, a French football expert, says that Kylian Mbappe feels “betrayed” by Paris St-Germain and wants to leave the club in January.
In May, the forward for France signed a new three-year deal, but he now thinks it was a “mistake.”
This season, Mbappe has scored 12 goals for PSG in all competitions, but he would rather move to Real Madrid.
But Luis Campos, who is in charge of sports at PSG, says that the 23-year-old has “never talked about leaving” the club in January.
Mbappe scores, but Benfica holds PSG to a draw in the Champions League.
Laurens told BBC Radio 5 Live, “He feels betrayed by the club because none of the things that were promised to him when he signed that new contract until 2025 have come true.”
“They said they would sign a new striker so he could play in his best position off the striker, that Neymar wouldn’t be there and would be sold, that they would sign a center back, and he would be at the center of the project. None of these things have taken place.
“We knew there were problems, and he’s decided he doesn’t want to be there. He thinks he made a mistake when he signed a new contract. He should have left in the summer, and now he’s looking at where he could go in January.
Mbappe, who won the World Cup, has won 11 trophies at PSG, including four Ligue 1 titles, since he joined on loan from Monaco in 2017.
On Friday, he was the highest-paid football player, according to Forbes. This is the first time in nine years that someone other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo has been number one.
“It’s clear that something is wrong in his mind with the club,” Laurens said.
“Real Madrid was ready to come get him as a free agent in the summer. They still need to have enough money to buy him and pay his wages.
“Would Chelsea be interested in him? Manchester City? What about Manchester United under Erik ten Hag?
“It’s one thing that he wants to leave, but it’s another thing who can afford him and how much PSG wants for him. PSG is in a good spot right now. He might have to stay until the end of the season and then see what happens in the summer.
But Campos shot down rumors that Mbappe is unhappy in Paris before PSG’s Champions League game against Benfica.
He told French TV station Canal Plus, “I’m with Kylian Mbappe every day.” “He has never mentioned leaving in January to me.
“It’s not a statement from the player, it’s from the press, and it’s very bad to have this kind of information before a match like this. So, I’m here to say that Kylian Mbappe has never asked me or the president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, to let him leave PSG in January.
Campos told RMC Sport, “Kylian is a very professional person. For instance, he played even though he was sick in the last game in Reims. He did it for the team. I see Kylian arrive every day with his teammates, happy and eager to work hard.
