Man allegedly rapes daughters after separating from wife
Authorities in Anambra State, Nigeria, have detained a middle-aged father named Nwobi on suspicion of sexually assaulting his three and five-year-old children.
A team from the ministry, aided by members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, successfully apprehended the suspect.
PUNCH As reported by Metro, the suspect’s divorce was finalized in the year 2020.
Ify Obinabo, the state commissioner for women and social welfare, said in a statement sent by her media assistant, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, that the accused will be brought to justice.
On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, she claimed, the rescue was carried out after a whistleblower reported the incident to the government.
The statement said, in part, that once the children were rescued, they were transferred to Ntasi Centre in Enugwu-Ukwu for medical care, where the on-duty doctor confirmed that they were defiled.
When they arrived at the hospital, the victims’ privates were bloated, red, and covered with new bruises.
“The children I spoke with all said that their father assaulted them on a regular basis, and they begged me not to send them back to his home, where they feared they would be punished severely if they were caught.
When confronted with the accuser, Mr. Nwobi “denied the claim and indicated that he was not aware that anybody, much alone himself as their father, was defiling his children and instead vowed to deal with whomever made the complaint.”
