I will deal decisively with insecurity – Peter Obi
On Monday, Peter Obi, Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general election, promised to take swift action against the scourge of insecurity if elected president.
On Monday’s episode of Arise TV’s Morning Show, Obi responded to viewers’ inquiries by saying he would not discuss the specific plan he would implement to address security concerns if he were elected president in 2023.
But he promised that if elected president, he would fire any agency head who didn’t live up to expectations.
Obi’s response when asked how he would react to the type of security alert raised by the United States on possible terror attacks in Nigeria was as follows: “Rufai, even with a gun on my head, I can’t give you details of what I’m going to do with the issue of insecurity. I can’t tell you what I’m going to do with the issue of insecurity. However, when I become chief commander, I will handle the situation in a determined manner. I can’t tell you how I’m going to handle it because if I do, it won’t be effective. Therefore, I can’t tell you how I’m going to do it.
“As the leader of our nation, my first duty is to protect both people and their property.” It is an essential step to take since if you don’t do it, no one will invest in your business. Because the farmers are unable to return to their homes, there is no food production. Without food production, there is nothing that can take place.

How can I make this clear to you? When it comes to safety and security, my team and I will act in a way that is both responsive and responsible. I will be in control, and I will be the commander in chief. That indicates that whatever the circumstances, we will respond with firm action, and we will hold someone accountable for whatever transpired. If you are not participating in it, you will be eliminated. We will not be holding our breath.”
